Def Leppard Announce Self-Titled Album

Available 30 October
Anyone who has followed Def Leppard for any length of time will know that they’ve never been the kind of band who churn out albums every year. In fact, the last time Joe Elliott and the guys released an album was back in 2008 with ‘Songs From the Sparkle Lounge’. So for long-time fans of the band such as decibelROGUE, the prospect of a new Def Leppard album arriving on October 30 makes us very happy bunnies indeed.
So here we are at studio album number eleven and the band have self-titled this release. As Joe Elliott explained during a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, they chose the name because while they were working on the album, friends and colleagues would continuously ask what the new material sounded like. “Well, it sounds like Def Leppard” was their reply. And having listened to the first single ‘Let’s Go’, the album title makes perfect sense, since there is more than a hint of ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me’ about it. It’s crunching guitars, powerful drums and familiar vocal arrangements are classic Def Leppard. And if this track is indicative of how the rest of the album will sound, it will have been well worth the 7 year wait.
“We got together to see what we had with maybe putting out a three track EP in mind. All of a sudden we had twelve songs on the go, and two more would come just a few weeks later. It’s the first album we’ve ever made with no deal in place & no one looking over our shoulders so the freedom was immense & I think you can hear it in the songs.” – Joe Elliott
Hopefully we can get our hands on a copy of ‘Def Leppard’ in advance of it’s release next month to bring you a full review.
