GUN ‘Every 1’s A Winner’ Video
Children are strange, contrary things. At least I was when I was a kid. I remember being in the house when my mum and dad were playing their favourite records and thinking ‘that’s totally rubbish’. Not because the music was bad, or anything as rational as that. It was just because the records belonged to my parents. It’s just not cool to like your folks’ music after all…
One of the bands caught in the crossfire was Hot Chocolate. Which is a real shame because as I got a bit older I began to appreciate just how good they were. And just what a cool cat the late great Errol Brown was.
So, fast forward a few more years and GUN have just recorded their own version of one of Hot Chocolate’s biggest hits, ‘Every 1’s A Winner’ and released a rather funky video to accompany it. At first glance it might seem a little strange for a rock band to put their own spin on such a classic soul record. But it probably sounded like a strange idea to do a rocked-out version of Cameo’s ‘Word Up’ all those years ago too. And that turned out pretty damned good, didn’t it?
I reckon Mr Brown would love this version.
