Abandcalledboy Release New Single ‘LA Dick’

Abandcalledboy are a four piece pop-infused noise-rock band from Belfast. ‘Sort of like Boyzone, just with more noise and distortion’ is how they like to describe themselves.

Having gained the attention of the UK and Ireland music press with features in the likes of Rocksound, Goldenplec and The Thin Air, the band are set to release their latest self-produced single ‘LA Dick’. And if there was a prize for the best name of any single released this year, I know what one would get my vote!

Consisting of Ryan Burrowes (vocals/guitar), Adam Smith (guitar), Mark Finnegan (bass), and Chris Ryan (drums), Abandcalledboy have toured throughout the UK and Ireland with the likes of The Futureheads, And So I Watch You From Afar and Rolo Tomasi. Their snotty lyricism and startlingly melodic broad-band fuzz have also seen them garner support from radio stations such as BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6.

At first listen, LA Dick can seem to be quite jarring in places as it mixes sneering vocals, electronica and fuzzy, dirty, noisy guitars, but this is all part of the fun. Yeah, it’s kinda leftfield, but why should everyone conform to the same set of rules?  These guys are clearly making music that they like and are just rocking in the direction the music takes them.
