The Graveltones New Video ‘Big Money’ and UK Tour Dates
They say that ‘sometimes less is more’. Certainly true when it applies to annoying attention-seeking celebs in the media, but not really an ethos you would generally associate with anyone wanting to make a big noise in rock music. After all, conventional rock wisdom suggests ‘more is better’. And turned up to eleven. Obviously!
Given that The Graveltones are a blues rock duo consisting of Jimmy O (guitar/vocals) and Mikey Sorbello (drums), you’d be forgiven for thinking that their comparative lack of bodies might leave noticeable gaps in their sound where things such as bass and rhythm guitars should be. But it just doesn’t!
More than once I’ve had to remind myself that I was listening to only TWO instruments.
Their songs crackle with intense energy, huge riffs, thunderous drums and powerful vocals. Their 2013 debut album ‘Don’t Wait Down’ was critically acclaimed and spawned a host of playlisted songs which led to the band touring extensively with the likes of Rival Sons, The Temperance Movement, Boss Hoss, Monster Truck and Cadillac Three as well as appearing at that year’s Download.
The band released their second album ‘Love Lies Dying’ in May and will be heading on a UK tour throughout September and October to support it. Like their debut album, this new release has been widely acclaimed and really is worth a listen.
‘‘It’s one of those things, when you record a bunch of songs and send them out there to play ball. You hope you’ve raised them up good enough to take care of themselves, and all these songs seem to get along with each other real well. They make a good team. I think they’re gonna be alright.” – Jimmy O
“Recording this album felt so right, we had the right producer and engineer and the sounds just fell out of us” – Mikey Sorbello
