Mustasch Announce Release of New Album ‘Testosterone’
I think I have Rob Halkett, bass player for Scottish punk legends, The Exploited to thank for introducing me to the music of Mustasch a number of years ago. I say ‘think’ because it was a Saturday afternoon in my favourite music bar, Bannermans in Edinburgh, and what can I say, lots of beer is generally involved! Rob had just finished sound checking for the mighty Rab Howat Band and decided to play this piece of music at full volume through the PA – and it stopped me right in my tracks. It was absolutely tremendous! I asked Rob what the hell it was and he told me it was a Swedish Metal band called Mustasch. The track was ‘Double Nature’ from their 2007 album ‘Latest Version of the Truth’ and it was duly bought and downloaded as soon as I got home and sobered up. It’s been a constant fixture in whatever iPod or computer I’ve had since. So Cheers Rob – if it was indeed you!
Mustasch’s latest album ‘Testosterone’ which releases on 18 September promises to be more of what we have come to love from Ralf Gyllenhammar and the guys: Big hard riffs, double bass drums and strong bass lines, to which they add large choral arrangements, creating a distinct and peculiar hard rock feel. When asked about ‘Testosterone’ Ralf Gyllenhammer says “On the new album I deal with my manhood, dignity and tenderness”.
As a little taster of what’s coming, have a look at Mustasch’s video for ‘Be Like A Man’.
To support the release of “Testosterone” the band will embark on a European tour, and although there are no UK dates have been announced as yet, lets keep our fingers crossed they’ll head over here soon.
