De STAAT New Album Announcement

Available 22 April
Dutch alt-rockers De Staat have announced their new studio album ‘O’ will be released on 22 April.
Given De Staat’s left of centre sensibilities, ‘O’ promises to be an album full of twists and turns, veering from synth heavy pop to irreverent alternative rock and dark, heavy grooves. The first single and video to be released from the album will be ‘Peptalk’. And if the new video is even half as good as the one they shot for ‘Witch Doctor’ from their previous album, it’ll be well worth watching.
Not only does the album title represent the sound “Oh”, but it also symbolises a circular movement. Frontman Torre Florim explains: “That circle is resembled in every aspect of the album. We recorded the songs in a circular set up, here in our studio. ‘O’ stands for nothing, yet for everything at the same time – and for infinity. Our new songs are repetitive, you could say they can go on forever.”
The band are currently touring Europe in support of the new album and will be heading to the UK later this month. Sadly, De Staat will only be playing one show while they’re here, and that’s at London’s Barfly on 17 March. It’s safe to say that show’s gonna sell out.
We’ll bring you a full review of ‘O’ soon, but in the meantime, check out the fantastic video to ‘Witch Doctor’ below.
