Festival Fun: Doune The Rabbit Hole 2016 Lineup Announcement

19 – 21 August

It’s that time of year when the lineups of this year’s festivals begin to take shape, and all of a sudden summer doesn’t seem so far away after all.

Festivals. You might quite like the idea of going to one, but don’t relish the thought of standing in a crowd of 80,000 only to have to watch the artists perform on massive video screens because you’re too far away to ACTUALLY see them. Or perhaps you have a young family but don’t have anyone to look after the kids while you head off for a couple of days glamping at Glasto. Happily there is an alternative…

Doune The Rabbit Hole is widely regarded as being one of Scotland’s best family friendly music and arts festivals. And in terms of event capacity, with only 1,000 tickets available on each of the 3 days, it’s certainly one of the smallest. Set in the idyllic grounds of the Cardross Estate near the Lake of Mentith over three days in August, DTRH brings together a richly diverse lineup of artists and bands from home and abroad. Families are warmly welcomed at the festival with tickets for children aged 12 and under available for free. DTRH also features an activity-packed children’s area and a dedicated family campsite, so people of all ages can experience the live music and take part in a wide range of practical activities over the course of the weekend. And it’s laid-back, friendly atmosphere makes it one decibelROGUE’s favourite music events of the year.

Dog-friendly too!

It’s safe to say you’ll probably never see the likes of the Foo Fighters rock up to DTRH. But then it’s not the kind of festival where bigger is necessarily better.  And for me, therein lies the main appeal of Doune The Rabbit Hole. Because other than a few familiar names and a couple of returning DTRH stalwarts whom I’ve seen in previous years, the names on this years’ lineup are all new to me. And that brings a big smile to my face, because it’s always nice to be pushed out of your musical comfort zone once in a while.

So, check out the lineup for this year’s event and drop by the official DTRH website for ticketing info, because this may well be the festival you’ve been looking for!
